Does the tapformz:// URL scheme also work on iOS? I’m trying to decide whether Tap Forms is for me.

Basically I need to be able to click a Tap Forms URL in my note-taking app and have the record open in the Tap Forms app – both on macOS and iOS. I can do this on macOS (tested it with the trial version), but I’m wondering if this also works for iOS.

    Cheers.

    Hi Audero,

Yes it does. Give it a go by putting tapformz:// into the address field in Safari. Tap Forms will be launched.

On iOS there’s a Copy Record Link option on the action menu of the record details screen. That’ll give you the URL that will take you back to that record.

It’s the same URL on macOS.

    Thanks!

Is there a way to use the tapformz:// URL scheme to access a specific form and/or specific form filter?

I’m migrating from a similar product which used its URL scheme to allow direct access to its equivalent of a specific form. When combined with a freeware utility to turn the URL into a standard iOS icon, direct access really speeds things up (no extra tapping to get to where you want to go) while leveraging the users existing icon organization layout.

    Thanks

What is the freeware utility you are using? Thanks!

Apart of records, there is a script option as well:

    tapformz://script/[document ID]/[form ID]/[form script name]?key1=value1&key2=value2...

You find this documented in https://www.tapforms.com/help-mac/5.3/en/topic/javascript-api

Thanks for the script insight – something for me to look into. The iOS app is aHomeIcon which I believe was free but now sells for $0.99 CAD.

I’ve tried to find a way to use the tapformz://script/… function to open a form but with no success. Can you offer an example or suggest what I’m likely missing?

The script function won’t open a form. Go to the record details screen and tap on the action menu and select Copy Record Link. That’ll give you the URL to view that record.

Thanks for the clear response. It would seem my inquiry is now becoming a feature request. Here’s my use case:

I’m good with faces but bad with names. I go to a social event and see someone who’s name I should remember, so I:
    1. Wake my phone
    2. Touch one icon to see a list of names to quickly scroll or filter through

    Current functionality requires me to:
    1. Wake my phone
    2. Touch the Tap Forma icon
    3. Go to documents
    4. Select my document
    5. Select my form to see a list of names to quickly scroll or filter through

Tap Forms, when combined with a utility like aHomeIcon (or it’s competitors) has the potential to bring immediacy to the access of commonly referenced forms and/or filters without the current transition journey overhead.

Thanks in advance for your consideration.

Any chance this feature is on the roadmap? While TapForms is a great product, it’s too cumbersome for quick irregular access.

HanDBase remains the only product I can find which meets the needs but which lacks some of the strengths of TapForms.

Part of your steps can be solved by leaving a document opened before you quit Tap Forms. Tap Forms will re-open the last document you had opened. But ya, I’d like to have Tap Forms remember and navigate into a form that was previously selected also.
