    Hi Brendan,

Strange error this one. Only the first character is shown no matter which view I am editing the textfield from. Even after I tab out or hit enter to move away from field to commit changes; the data i still there, but doesn’t ‘draw’ correctly.

    Using TF 5.0.3 build 1537.

Please see attached. Sample csv file included.

    Regards,
    Robert.

You have a bunch of strange characters after every letter in your CSV file. That’s why it’s not drawing properly. Click on your Recipes.csv file attachment above and Safari will show you all the strange data.

See my attached version of what I see in Safari.

Great pickup. In Textedit and Fileloupe the csv integrity looks fine, but Safari shows the inconsistency. I guess I’ll double-check my DevonThink exported lists a lot closer next time :/

In this instance Textedit and Excel have failed horribly.

    Thanks Brendan!

    “Excel” and “TextEdit” smoothly!..

    Recommendation: free text program: TextWrangler
    http://www.barebones.com/support/textwrangler/index.html

CSV export and import of use UTF-8 format.
    The problem will be solved.

Yes, in TextWrangler you can tell it to “Strip Gremlins” which will find all bad characters and remove them.

If you can export from DevonThink into a known File Encoding (preferably UTF-8) then you should be good by telling Tap Forms the file is also in UTF-8. UTF-8 is the most universally accepted file encoding format.

I actually used one of the pre-defined Applescripts from DevonThink… most likely didn’t save to UTF-8. it happens :)

    Thanks for the tip Tuncay!
