Zuu KoiParticipantMy Tap Forms on Mac takes forever to open, around 10-20+ minutes. I only have 1 large form around 5000+ records, the others are small, around 100+ record. I tried vacumming, analysing, etc but nothing help. On iPhone the load speed quite fast. Please help..

Frank TikketParticipantBrendan is working on a database engine overhaul that will hopefully solve this issue you are experiencing. Welcome to the big database club lol.
In the mean time, you can do like I did (i have 3800 records, vacuum the whole database/analyze/reindex all 4 steps, then sync before you do this then disable sync on all devices)…. then i simply DELETED all my Forms/picklists/categories-the whole database on the mac… then went into the iCloud settings and deleted my taprooms sync file (you can do this on iPhone or in the iCloud settings on mac under preference pane)…. THEN, i enable the sync on all devices, go to the non-deleted/latest updated IOS database on the IOS device and sync it up to the cloud.
It takes a bit to do all the rows and columns, but you get a fresh copy on your Mac and seem to run clean for a while (still not fast, but snappier) has been my experience.
Database overhaul is the BIGGEST update I am waiting for. This software has all the customizations for just about any business/application out there. If it can just get faster, it will move to an enterprise class software that I think ALL businesses should look at!

BrendanKeymasterHi Zuu,
When you ay 10-20+ minutes, did you really mean seconds? Because 10-20+ minutes is hugely long. It shouldn’t take that long. The speed of your hard drive makes a difference too.
Also, Tap Forms remembers the last form selected. What happens if you select the smaller form that you have and then quit and then launch again. Does it take 10-20+ minutes to open then?
Yes, I am working on the database revamp. Last year I started that project but put it on hold to do the Dropbox sync integration. Now I’ve started on it again. But I decided to go a different way with it. I’m currently working on a CouchBase migration for the database. So once I get things going more I’ll see how performance is with that. The greatest thing about CouchBase is its support for built-in sync, including a continuous replication mode and also peer-to-peer sync. But the way it queries the database is wildly different than the way I do it now, so I have to somehow figure out how to convert saved searches into a format that CouchBase can handle. Anyway, that’s another thing…
Thanks,
Brendan

Zuu KoiParticipantNo, not in second, I really mean in minutes.. And YES it’s hugely long.. One thing, if I close tap forms after first long open and reopen it shortly, the opening is quick. I’ll try to open smaller form before exit and see if it affected on first opening time.. Do you have ETA when this problem will be solved ?

BrendanKeymasterHi Zuu,
Not really since I’ve never seen it take that long to open a Tap Forms database before. If you would like to email me a backup of your database I can do some experiments to see where the issue might be.
Also, how much memory do you have on your Mac? And what kind of Mac is it?
Thanks,
Brendan
