memobugParticipantMy TapForms legacy edition stopped working today. The logo screen just flashes and crashes.
Will paying to upgrade to the new version 5 address this issue?
If so: should I buy the $16.99 version 5 or the $16.99 “reduced price” upgrade edition bundle?
Thanks!

BrendanKeymasterIf you go into the upgrade bundle, you should be able to get a discount by using the Complete My Purchase function. It should show a reduced price and not the full $16.99. Although what the App Store does is it subtracts the price that you already paid for the previous version of Tap Forms from the bundle price.
But the issue you’re having could be one with Touch ID on a new device. Did you recently upgrade to a new iPhone or upgrade your OS recently?
One solution to the problem is to delete Tap Forms and re-install it.
However you’d lose your data if you did that, so you’d want to take a backup of your data first and then re-install Tap Forms and then restore your data.
It can be a little tricky to do this because you need to use iTunes File Sharing or the Finder in Catalina or Big Sur to get access to the TapForms_db.sqlite and accompanying folders first.
Here’s some instructions for Catalina or Big Sur:
- To get access to the files, plug your iPhone into your Mac and in the Finder click on your device on the sidebar of any Finder window.
- Then click on the Files button on the right.
- Then you’ll see Tap Forms listed there. Open the Tap Forms area and you’ll see a list of files and folders.
- Copy the files to your computer into the Desktop.
- Then select all of the files you copied and then under the File menu select “Compress # items”.
- An Archive.zip file will be created.
- Rename that file to be TF-MyBackup.zip
- Now you can delete Tap Forms from your iPhone and re-install it from the App Store.
- It should launch fine now.
- Now take the backup file and copy it back to the Tap Forms Documents area in the Finder.
- You should then go to the Backup & Restore screen and you should see the backup file there.
- Tap on it and then tap on the Restore Backup button.
- You should have your data back.
- DON’T enable TouchID and you should be good to go.
Thanks!
