I have Tap Forms 5 on a Mac and Tap Forms (new) on iOS. I restored the same backup to each so they each now have a database with the same name. I’m trying to get these to stay in Sync. I open the same-name database on both Mac and iOS. Then I go to Tap Forms 5’s Preferences > Sync and select Nearby. Butt nothing shows in the list of nearby devices. Am I doing something wrong?
I read some of the other posts about syncing, but they seemed to be talking about Send (using the up-arrow button on the Tap Forms 5 startup page). If I hit that Send button, my Mac does see my iPad. But that isn’t the same as Sync, is it? I thought Sync was supposed to be automatic? Send looks like it would overwrite the iOS database.
You can try clicking the “+” button below to see if the list of devices appear there.

I clicked the + on the Tap Forms 5 Preferences > Sync page. Still nothing appears under Nearby devices.
Thanks.
That is correct,
you need to send the database to the device you want to be able to sync first. So echo device has the database. After that you can set up the sync. I recommend the cloudant sync because of the instant syncing.
Once that is set up you are good to go.
Also please see this chapter in the online docs:
https://www.tapforms.com/help-mac/5/en/topic/nearby-sync
There’s a big blue box that gives you details on what you need to do before setting up sync.
Thanks, I think it’s resolved. I had to delete the database from iOS and Send it from Mac. Seems odd that restoring both from same backup wouldn’t be the equivalent, but nearby sync seems to be working now.
