TEIBParticipantHi Brendan,
Wondering if you have any advice for bringing in related data fields from Bento (please see attached). It appears that tap forms doesn’t have a similar field-type, so anything that was in a related data field simply didn’t transfer over at all and there is a blank space appearing.
Thanks!! Appreciate it:)

BrendanKeymasterI’ve split your question to a new topic because it has nothing to do with the topic you posted it to.
Tap Forms does support importing the Bento RelatedData field type as long as you export your template and include all of your related forms in the same template export.
What it doesn’t support is the Simple List field type, which is what your screenshot looks like.
Thanks!

TEIBParticipantGot it, thank you! Any suggestions on bringing in data on a Simple List field type?
Appreciate your help!! :)

BrendanKeymasterUnfortunately I don’t have any advice in that area. I never really worked with them before. What do they look like when you export them as a CSV file?

TEIBParticipantThanks for your response!
It looks like the attached screen shot and doesn’t bring in the template.
Sounds like we’ll need another way to save this data.

BrendanKeymasterThat’s very interesting. Not very space efficient since it repeats the column name for every value I see.

TEIBParticipantWe’re having a similar issues with importing fields in the address book – emails, phone numbers, and addresses are not importing into Tap Forms at all.
Please see attached screen shot to see the type of field in Bento that isn’t coming into Tap Forms and please let us know any suggestions for solving this.
Thanks!

BrendanKeymasterI forget which version of Tap Forms you’re using. Is it 3.0? If so, then it should now import addresses, but they won’t get put on the custom layouts. They’ll be added as separate fields to your form.
There was a missing type of address field in 3.0 that I’ve corrected in 3.0.1 which may be the issue you’re encountering.

TEIBParticipantYes, we’re using 3.0 now, but had imported the address book a couple of weeks ago before the update was available. So, if we delete our address book and re-import, the emails, address list field, and phone numbers should come in?
Just to clarify, 3.0.1 isn’t available yet? Should we wait to re-import until it is available?
Thanks so much!!!

TEIBParticipantAlso, does the new update include support for Simple List field type as discussed above? If so, we can reimport that section of the database as well.

BrendanKeymaster3.0.1 hasn’t been submitted to Apple yet. This weekend I’ll do that.
It does not support the Simple List field type. Sorry.
You can certainly try your Bento import again ow.
Thanks,
Brendan

TEIBParticipantHi Brendan,
Just tried re-importing the address book from Bento into Tap Forms. Unfortunately, addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses do not come in.
In Bento, these essential three address book fields are always list types because Bento was created to integrate with the Mac OS Address Book application. I would change the type of field in Bento directly before exporting, but this doesn’t seem possible.
Will you be adding the ability to import list fields in the future version?
Is there a way to bring the addresses, phone numbers, and emails from the Mac OS Address Book application?
Is there a way to combine our Bento template import with fields from an excel document that we bring in?
Please let me know your thoughts on this issue as it is essential for the address book import to work. Thanks!!

BrendanKeymasterCan you please try your Bento import with the 3.0.1 beta demo version?
https://www.dropbox.com/s/sluvd5csb2aixp6/Tap%20Forms%20Demo%203.0.1%20beta.app.zip?dl=0
Let me know if it’s able to import your address fields. If not, then I would like to get a copy of your Bento template so I can see why it’s not working.
Thanks,
Brendan

TEIBParticipantHi Brendan,
Yes, I tried the 3.0.1 beta demo version and imported as a Bento Template. The default layout does show address info, however no phone or email. The template layout from Bento doesn’t show fields for address, phone or email – just blank space. When I try to drag the fields onto the template layout, they bounce back and don’t stick.
In addition, I brought an excel doc into 3.0. Very strange but addresses appeared in different fields than address fields and it was inconsistent on all entries.
Please let me know a private way I can provide the Bento templates to you – do you have an email? The Bento template includes our clients’ personal address data and I don’t want to post a download link online.
Thanks!!

TEIBParticipantThanks so much! I emailed the template to you now. Appreciate your help!!!

BrendanKeymasterI’m working on adding support for the phone and email. Don’t know how I missed that. However, there may be a way to fake it by editing the template and changing some things to make it recognize the current values. I’ll email you.

TEIBParticipantThanks so much for your help and for working on this!! Appreciate it:)

BrendanKeymasterThe 3.0.1 update which is still pending review at Apple should now have this fix. I managed to get it in because 3.0.1 got rejected on Saturday. I re-submitted 3.0.1 a few hours later and it’s now waiting for review again.
Thanks,
Brendan
