I’m just getting into the layout designer for the first time. The online manual says there are alignment controls that can be used for aligning objects. These controls should appear in the layout design toolbar, to the right of the text formatting controls. I’m not getting those controls. (I am aware there are menu commands to accomplish the same thing, but it would be nice to have the controls on the toolbar.)
Am I missing something? Is there some trick to getting the controls to appear?
Hi Cliff,
They’re there. Click the ‘Aa’ button in the toolbar at the top of the record details view and you’ll see them appear.
Thanks!
Brendan
Hi Brendan,
Thanks, but I’m not seeing it. I get the text controls, but not the object alignment controls. I’m attaching a screenshot.

Well that’s definitely very odd. They should be right there.

Right, that’s what I’d like to see on mine!
Try switching views to see if that makes them appear for you. If you’re in single-column view, then switch to multi-column view. Or vice versa.
Okay, I tried that, but it didn’t fix it.
Could it be an El Capitan thing?
Okay, weird. I don’t know what I did differently, but now the controls are there.
