Patrice HofParticipantHi Brendan,
Within a form, a field is missing.
It disappeared from the standard layout and I can’t find it in the field list (see screenshot 02, the name of that text field is “Désignation”.
The field and its content still exists, but I don’t know how to restore it.
It still exists because the first sorting key is defined on this field (see screenshot 01), and the records are sorted (see screenshot 03).
This seemed to occur 10 days ago, when I switched from cloudant to iCloud sync.
How to fix that oddity?
Thank you for your help.

BrendanKeymasterHi Patrice,
If you email me a backup of your document I can probably restore it.
or check the “Restore deleted items…” function in the File menu to see if it appears there.
Sorry for this trouble.
Thanks,
Brendan

Patrice HofParticipantHi Brendan,
The problem of missing field is not fixed.
I regularly note that fields or records disappear. Most of the time, I can restore them with the function “Restore deleted items”, but without the assurance that all the missing data is restored.
This problem is frequent and makes me unconfident and unsecured about the quality and integrity of data stored within my TF database. As I don’t know how and why theses items are deleted or hided, I can’t prevent this to happen.Today, my problem is the following (see attached screenshot):
Field 2 is “Année” (year) and should display “2018” for instance.
Today I notice that the field 2 has lost its label, its color and its content for all the 500 records.
These items don’t appear in the “Restore deleted items” function.
My iPhone (see attached screenshot) doesn’t display the field neitherWithout confidence, I won’t be able to use TF anymore, so thank you for your help.

Daniel LeuParticipantPatrice, just quoting Brendan from an earlier post:

Brendan can be reached at support@tapforms.com.
I have never encountered lost data as you describe it. Do you use any formulas or scripts that might have an unwanted side effect?

BrendanKeymasterHi Patrice,
If you haven’t compacted the database, I can give it a go to try and restore the missing fields.
Please email them as Daniel suggested and I can take a look at it for you.
Thanks,
Brendan

Sam MoffattParticipantIt sounds like a field was deleted and recreated. If I remember correctly, the contents of the field are there in the record because deleting a field only deletes the single field entry. I don’t know if the field is maintained for subsequent edits, I think it is but I’m not 100% on it. Generally if the field with the same field ID and type is re-added then those values should re-appear because the underlying record still retains them.

BrendanKeymasterSam, this is true as long as you don’t run the Compact Database function on the Maintenance screen.
