Guillaume KusterParticipantHi,
I can’t get layouts to sync across my Macs. The data syncs but not the layouts.
Thanks,
-Guillaume

BrendanKeymasterHi Guillaume,
Layouts should sync. Try changing the layout name and see if that makes it across.
Close and re-open the document after you see the sync finish.
It should sync.
Thanks,
Brendan

Guillaume KusterParticipantThanks,
just tried that. On the iMac I can just see two custom layouts. On the MacBook I have six. I just changed the names of all six on the MacBook, saw the sync occur on both machines.
What happened is that the names of the two custom layouts present on the iMac were updated, but the other four custom layouts were not added.
thanks,
-Guillaume

Guillaume KusterParticipantI also tried to create a layout on the iMac, wait for both syncs to happen and the test layout I created on the iMac didn’t show up on the MacBook.

Victor WarnerParticipantI have had this problem too. In exactly same circumstance as Guillaume Kuster. I reported this to Brendan and received the same response. For me this is unresolved. The only way I dealt with this:
1. was to make changes on one Mac, and if the (changed) layout is not copied then:
2. either(a) export to an archive and copy to other computer; or
(b) copy through AirDrop to the other computer3. Delete database on other computer, and insert copied version of database.
I could to find any other way of dealing with the issue.

Sam MoffattParticipantIs this using iCloud, P2P, CouchDB or Cloudant for sync?
August 2, 2019 at 12:18 AM #36183
Guillaume KusterParticipantI was using iCloud when this problem occurred.
I switched to CouchDB yesterday. More on this here.

BrendanKeymasterSo you’re saying that layouts aren’t syncing even when using CouchDB?
If you close and re-open the document after the sync, do the layouts show up?
Maybe it’s just a refresh issue?

Guillaume KusterParticipant@Brendan
Layouts *are* syncing using CouchDB.
I tested that yesterday after airdropping the same documents to all my devices and then creating some test layouts on my Macbook. They appeared on the iMac and vice versa.
Sorry if I was unclear.

BrendanKeymasterOk, so then it was just an iCloud issue.
I was testing this out just this evening and I did see that iCloud was at least uploading the custom layouts. But I still have to do some more tests to see from the other side when downloading layouts to see what’s going on.
