January 2025 : Tap Forms Versus Competing Options – Why choose TF?

For those who are recent (within the past five years or less) adopters of Tap Forms, what was it that made you decide to invest your time and money into the product(s)?

I would appreciate a specific example (or as many as you care to provide) that gave the product the edge over other options available.

We were stuck with an Act! database that forced us to use a VM to run on our Mac. Using a third party, we were able to export the entire database as CSV files and then import them into Tap Forms 5. With some custom layouts and scripts, we now have a CRM implementation that’s better suited for our needs than what we had when using Act!.

A big plus, or even what enabled us doing this, is the Javascript API; and as I learned later, Brendan’s willingness to enhance it as needed.

I’ve been searching for a long while on a way to be able to have my own database (have my own is key here). I’m a video games collector, and I like to know a lot of things about the video games I own. Their supports, their systems, and most of all, especially with modern gaming, how much does a game really costs me, if I consider the DLC. I’ve searched a long while, and no solution I could find was dealing with DLC’s.

Even though I could have spent the time making an access (or alternative) database for it, I just don’t have the time to dig inside the making of a database from scratch. When I found about Tap Forms 5, I gave it a try and managed to create the database that suits my needs in less than 2 hours. A few additional questions on the forum and under 3 hours I had my running database, showing me the DLC for each game, sorted, with calculation made. It’s that easy.

This week end, I made another database for all my 3D prints I’m doing. To track how long a model takes me to print, and to have an idea on how heavy a model is, and how much it costs me to print it. This was done in less than an hour.

I find it’s an amazing product that allows me to get the application I need, after my own needs and I don’t need to format my results in a way the creator of the database made for himself. I’ve done it for me, and it works very well for me. It doesn’t take me a long time to create what I need, and I have all the cataloging I need.

And Brendan is amazing at trying to help everyone. I’ve rarely seen a developper this active with his customers. Just for that he deserves it.
