Hi,
I started using TAP Forms to manage my genealogy and historical records but realised that Date Fields don’t accept dates before year 1700. Is this a bug that can be fixed or do I have to use a Text Field instead (with obvious disadvantages)?
Hi Miguel,
You can use the date popover and type in the dates manually rather than just typing them into the field. Tap Forms uses Apple’s NSDataDetectors technology to interpret the date values entered into a plain text field. But Apple’s heuristics for that don’t work for really old dates. In fact, it used to be worse than that, but I filed a bug report and they actually changed it so that it would allow earlier dates for me.
So if you click on the date button to display the popover, there’s a date specific control on that view and you can enter in whatever date you like.
Thanks,
Brendan
Thanks Brendan,
Using the popover seems to only work in the Default Layout.
I tried in my own layout and the date isn’t save.

Hello, Brendan, it worked, thanks !
We have to type in the date in the default layout to make it work, but once entered there, the date appears in the personal layout.
And the calculation on that date, whenever there is one, functions too.
