DaveFFParticipantHi, I am new to tap forms, I have created a custom form for entering incident information when attending emergencies. I am a Officer in the Fire and Rescue Service. I have fields such as equipment used and resources in attendance. I can not find a way to choose multiple items in my pick list in the one field. My work around is to have multiple equipment fields or resource fields. While this works, it makes the form longer than I would like. Does anybody know if it is possible to choose multiple items from my pick list and have them all populate the one field?
Also probably not the right place to post this, but the ability to output the form as a PDF would be a huge bonus for my archiving of data.
Fantastic app, worth every cent.

BrendanKeymasterHi Dave,
Thanks for the feature request. It’s been a popular one in the past. I will see what I can do to add it to a future update. Selecting multiple values from a pick list isn’t supported at this time.
The interesting problem about exporting the form as a PDF file would be what exact layout should it take? Obviously being able to build a full-fledged customizable layout engine would be ideal, but it would also probably consume my time for the next year. So it would have to be something more straight forward. Probably just the same layout as you see in the app, but as a PDF file. Would that be adequate for you? I won’t be able to start on something like that for a while still, but I’ll think about it for a future update. Supporting AirPrint is on my to-do list and this would be a natural extension of that I believe.
Thanks!
Brendan

DaveFFParticipantThanks for the reply, I will keep using my current work around. This would certainly be on my wish list for future updates.
I am using both the ipad and iphone with tapforms, when it comes to the pdf export; I would find it a more attractive way to create long term back ups of my incident information. If it appeared as per the ipad screen I would be more than happy.
I back up all my incidents by emailing it to myself at the moment and also export them to an excel spreadsheet. Being able to back up as a PDF and then print copies to reference that data at a later debrief or as incident evidence would be very useful.

lgol27ParticipantSelecting multiple values from a pick list is a great feature. I have almost on all my forms a field called ‘Tags’ or ‘Category’. And thinking into more distant future, it could open a way to integrate with hashcodes / Twitter.

lgol27ParticipantIn the light of our discussion about picklists, by using multiselect ones you can linked(indirectly) different forms. For example, having a contact form, to do list form and the list of items you lent, you can link by tagging the specific records with the same string(e.g. “John”) information about your friend John. So when you search for “John” you will see his phone number, a reminder to buy him a birthday present and that he didn’t return your favorite book for over a year. Thus you can call him and say that he is not gonna get anything for his birthday, this son of …..

lgol27ParticipantBut to make it work properly you need to make an advanced search, where you can pick a pick list and then to choose values from the list to be a search string.

CalionParticipantHas this feature been added? I could use it at the moment.

BrendanKeymasterHi Calion,
Multi-select Pick Lists have been in Tap Forms for years now. This is a very old post from 2011.
Thanks,
Brendan

CalionParticipantThanks. This thread was first in a Google search on the subject, so it’s good that it’s updated anyway.
