MikeSNHParticipantHi,
I’ve installed the tap forms lite to check out wether I can use this database.
I’ve created a formular with some items (“Currysauce”, “Nudeln”).
Now I want to search an item (for example “Curry”).
But the program doesn’t find anything.
I try it with other words (“currysauce” or “Curry*”, “Curry%”).
But without sucess.
My question: how can I find items in a formular?
Greetings
Mike

BrendanKeymasterHello Mike,
Hmm.. this should work fine. And I just tested it using your exact words.
Are you searching within a specific form or doing a global search on the Search tab? Either should work, but the search on the Form list is local to the form. The Search tab is global to the whole app.
The wild cards don’t work because I’m already adding * to the search term you type in. Please note that it won’t find substrings within words. That is, if you were to search for sauce in currysauce, it would not find it. But it should find curry just fine.
What region do you have your iPhone set to? That may affect the search results.
Thanks,
Brendan

MikeSNHParticipantHi Brendan,
thanks for your fast answer.
Starting the app I’ve 2 forms: my new form and also the sample form.
I use then the search-function (I think that’s the global search), type in “Curry” and the app doesn’t found anything. If I type in only “a”, I get all items from my new form and also from the sample form. Also items, which has NOT an “a” (that is the word “Nudel”). If I type in the search-field “an”, I get only the 2 items of the sample form.
And a search only in my new form doesn’t bring any results.
My iPhone is in Germany and first I have choose the german language on the tap forms.
But I have changed back to the english version, because I thought that the search-function doesn’t work with the german version.
But it isn’t.
Greetings

BrendanKeymasterHello Mike,
Which version of Tap Forms are you running? If you go and edit and save one of your field values again and then try searching again, does it work then?
Thanks,
Brendan

MikeSNHParticipantHi Brendan,
I have the version 1.9.7 and I’ve edit the field values as you wrote, but it doesn’t work.
But I think I found the reason, why the search function doesn’t work.
I named the form with the umlaut “รค”(it’s the letter “a” with two dots over it).
Now I have created an new form without such an umlaut and I think here the search function works.
I try it and will give you a short answer about my results.
Greetings

MikeSNHParticipantHi Brendan,

The search function doesn’t work with a form which includes an umlaut.
