RenesboyParticipantHow do I set an alert in Tapforms HD?
March 2, 2011 at 2:16 AM #4485
BrendanKeymasterHello Renesboy,
Just add a Date & Time field to your form. When you tap on the Date & Time field in a record, you’ll be able to turn on the alert for that record, set the time and date it should fire, and set the frequency at which it should fire.
Thanks!

iK.vinParticipantHi Brendan,
Just wanna say thank you once again for the many-to-many + alert updates.
“Alert” has been very useful.
However, if I recall properly, there is some problem about alert right?
I discovered that sometimes (about 50% of the time) when the screen is locked, TapFormDB does not always get launched when the alert has gone off.
All I can see on my locked screen is the TapFormDB notification, but I can’t get to the content.
I slide-to-unlock screen and there is nothing to view.
This almost never happen when the screen is on.
I think this almost happen all the time when there are other notifications waiting for me to see.
Will this be fixed in the next update?
When (estimation) will be the next update be coming?
regards,
Kevin.

iK.vinParticipantI think I found out what’s going on.
Basically, when the alert goes off, if you don’t unlock the screen within that very minute and view the notification, you won’t be able to see the content. Meaning, if you set the alert to be at 8:00pm. You cannot read your alert notification at 8:01pm. You have to view it at 8:00am. Can’t be a minute late. Hope that is helpful.

BrendanKeymasterHello Kevin,
I’m pretty sure this is normal behaviour for the iPhone. Whenever I get a notification from other apps, if I don’t respond to it right away, the app doesn’t launch the next time I slide to unlock. So I don’t think this is a behaviour that I can change. In fact, Tap Forms doesn’t even have to be running for the alert to pop-up. So there’s no way that I could force it to launch under this situation. If it says “Slide to View” I believe that’s when it will launch Tap Forms and show you the record. But if it says “Slide to Unlock”, then Tap Forms won’t launch automatically.
Thanks,
Brendan

iK.vinParticipantThank you for the response.
You are right.
Never noticed this behaviour.
I just tried with the SMS app.
It does exactly what you say.
Now let’s say I can’t get to Tap Form when the alert goes off.
I then try to get to it about 15 minutes later by slide-to-unlock.
I then manually tap the app to launch it.
I end up looking at the list of the forms, not the particular record that has the alert gone off.
I struggle to find which record is trying to remind me.
Am I missing some details to read Tap Form properly?
regards,
Kevin.

iK.vinParticipantNever mind.
I just played with Tap Form a bit more.
Now I realised I need to tap in to “Favourites” then tap on “Alerts” so I can see what records have gone off so far.
Now I know how to properly use Tap Form.
regards,
Kevin.
