    Hey Brenden,

I reset my Mac user account password which precipitated a keychain reset. Ever since this happened, Tapforms will not accept my password. Is there any way these could be related? I know I didn’t save the Tapforms password in the keychain rather, I entered the pw each time.

Is there a way to recover a form that has been password protected?

    Thanks,

    Shane

Normally, when you lose some data from iPad. And you did not created any backup in iTunes or iCloud . At this moment, you need to Coolmuster iOSRescuer help recover iPad data directly.

    Hi,

So yesterday and today a lot of customers have been contacting me about Tap Forms being damaged. At least one customer I’ve heard from used the Launchpad to delete Tap Forms in order to re-install. That consequently erased all their data. And unfortunately without having a backup, there’s no recovering.

The issue apparently is that one of Apple’s certificates used in validating the authenticity of an app that was purchased from the Mac App Store had expired. See the following article:

Mac Store Apps Stopped Working Due To Expired Security Certificate

The solution is as simple as rebooting your computer. You will be asked to re-login to the Mac App Store when you try to launch an app. Make sure you login with the same Apple ID you used to initially purchase Tap Forms.

So it’s not something that I did to cause this with my most recent updates. But I sure have been receiving a lot of emails about it. Hopefully some will see this post and be able to get back into Tap Forms quickly.

This was only an issue with the Mac App Store version. Customers who purchased the direct download version of Tap Forms did not experience this trouble.

    Thanks!

Hi I have an iPhone 5 IOS 9.0.1
tonight I updated to the latest version of Tapforms
When I restarted the app it worked fine no password requested
I used too use a passoword about 3 or 4 versions ago and it stopped working and I paid this no regard to this
when I went back to the app about 1 hour later i was greeted by an encryption key request.

    I cannot open the app.

I tried previous 4 digit number code and ABC encryption code I use for my credt card info and nothing lets me in

I have everthing inside this app from passwords to expenses to business mileage to credit card info.

How to I resolve this as I desperatley need access

    Vaughan

    regards

    Good Morning, Brendan!

I haven’t spoken to Apple yet to see if I can recover the encryption key. But I do have a fairly recent backup in CSV format of the database. It doesn’t include the attachments, but I found out from the client she’s less interested in the attachments since the most significant info is in the backup spreadsheet.

So, what if I were to start over. Delete the app on my Mac and install a brand new copy of the application. I don’t know how I managed to set an encryption key but I’d like to set up a new database using the CSV file. Is this possible? Thanks!

    Topic: Strange bug

    in forum Using Tap Forms

    Hello!
I use Tap Forms to manage Passwords etc.
After Update to El Capitan i´ve encounter a strange behavior of Tap Forms: In the column there are other data than in the dataset itself. So the Name of the Dataset is i.e. Adobe but in the data set there are the informations of another service. I have added two screenshots as example.
I have recovered from the backups but the behavior remain.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Regards,

    A. Wolff

That’s why I called Apple to see if I can recover the file where the encryption key was store from Time Machine. We were not able to do it. I’m to talk to them tomorrow to a higher level support person to see why I cannot recover from Time Machine.

I’ve already verified the Keychain Access and verified the password. I have a record of the same password it displayed but when I launch the app, it isn’t looking for the password. It’s wanting the encryption key which has always been different from the password.

I use to have the encryption key stored in a file that I modified, which removed the encryption key. I called Apple tonight to try to recover an old copy of that file with no luck. I definitely successfully used Tap Forms by providing the key over the past months, not the password.

I have done everything you suggested and nothing is getting me inside the app. Don’t you think I need to re-install the app or something to get pass this encryption key problem? What should I do? I need to add files for a client soon. Thanks!

For some reason my encryption key that is required on my Mac, is not what I thought it was. I am unable to access my DB at all.

I read that I can restore from the backup file. How do I do that without knowing the encryption key, or is there a way for me to reset the encryption key?

    Thanks!

I have created a large form, and in the process of testing different character formats to correctly import csv data I have created and deleted the form quite a few times. My database size is now 3.2GB, and the “real” data is perhaps a few hundred MB at most.

Now when I run the Vacuum Database utility from Database Maintenance (on a 63GB iPhone6) it runs for a minute or two and then TapForms closes itself. When I open it back up, it appears nothing has changed.

I can, and have, run Analyze DB and Re-Index DB, and Re-biuld Search Index, but I need to recover space by vacuuming. I have tried a dozen times, same failure each time.

Is there a limit in SQLite to the database size for “vacuuming”? Any suggestions?

I have tried plugging in to find the photos folder. However, it did not exist. Going forward I am assuming the following 2 things: (1) the data was collected (pictures taken) before the 4/24 update. (2) the app subsequently updated after the data was collected. Given this, here is what currently exists:

-There was no photos folder on the iphone or in iCloud for TapForms (at least, not one I have been able to find.
-When exporting the CSV, no filename appears in the Photo fields.
-When using the app, photos show up as previews, as they should, but when they are tapped I just get a black screen.
-I have subsequently tested the app using the same form, by creating two more records with photos. The two test images showed up in a photos folder and the exported CSV shows the filenames, but the previously collected data still does not show the filenames and no photos.

Based on this, I suspect one of two things occurred:
-There was a bug in the previous version of the app that did not properly save the photos and the filenames in the CSV.
    OR
-Somehow the updated caused the photos folder to be deleted and the related filenames to be deleted from the database.

I am guessing it is very unlikely that I will be able to recover the original photos, though I am open to any suggestions as to where I may find them on my iPhone.

However, the preview images do still showup in the form, thus I wonder is there anyway to extract the preview images? Where do I find them, or how can I extract them?

    Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Is this something that could be implemented in the future?

I ask because I see that it’s also not possible to search on the “Link from Form” field, but this would be very helpful when exporting data from a search.

I have a situation similar to Mark’s, but with the addition of a Tasks form linked to the Projects form. I was thinking that the easiest way to invoice my clients would be to export their project/task data into Excel, but I can’t see any way to select the projects and tasks for just one client for exporting.

Am I missing something? Is there a workaround?

On a related note, I can’t seem to export the “Link from Form” column either. I get some sort of file corrupt error, and Excel “recovers” the file with the linked column empty. If I don’t export the linked column, I don’t get this error.

    Cheers,
    Grey

TonyT – if you really need to recover those dates, I’m wondering if you have another mac or i-devise you could put TapForms on and then import the backup to that devise. It sounds cumbersome, but if you really need them, it might be a solution.

    Hi Allen,

If you delete a field and then add a new field with the same name, it won’t bring back the data from the deleted field. When you uploaded the change to iCloud, it would tell your other copy of Tap Forms to also delete the field. Unless you have a backup, there’s nothing that can be done at the moment. It sounds like it has been deleted. If you can restore to a backup then you can recover your data.

    Thanks,

    Brendan
