Tap Forms 1.9.12 Released

Hey there everyone,

Earlier today Tap Forms 1.9.12 was released.

This update fixes the crash viewing encrypted fields. It also adds Arabic translation.

Currently I am working on the iPad version but I managed to add a couple of new features (coming in version 1.9.13). The first is I updated the Number field type to support auto-incrementing. You'll be able to turn auto-increment on and off and also set an increment amount. The start value will take the value of the Default value and then each additional record that's added will have the increment amount added to the default value. So in this case, the Default value is doing double-duty.

I am also working on adding an aggregate calculation function to a Form. This will enable you to see the sum, average, minimum, or maximum of a specific number field in your form. The value will be displayed at the bottom of the record list view. It will be fairly straight forward to use. Just pick the number field and then pick the aggregate function. That's it! Easy peasy!

For example:
* Total (Cost of Item): $459.99
* Average (Cost of Item): $200.99
* Minimum (Cost of Item): $10.55
* Maximum (Cost of Item): $350.69

Where "Cost of Item" is the name of the number field you selected.

That's it for now... back to work!

Brendan

Still crashes when I I try to customize when selecting a field

    Hello Larry,

So you’re using Tap Forms 1.9.12 now? Can you explain the steps you took to cause the crash? I’ve been testing customizing a field, but it doesn’t crash.

    Thanks,

    Brendan

And I’ve just this evening come across the need for sums. Fantastic. Looking forward to the new version.

I haven’t had a problem with crashes but since the update I have had a problem with a small database I used to track part of my job. It’s really a simple database. I pull the form in. I start in Forms and it shows. It also shows the number or records I have. I go to the records and it shows “No Records” but if I have tagged any of the records as “Favorites” I can go there and view the records. I can’t seem to delete or Export anything since it has nothing under the records view. Any help?

    Hello Glenn,

Try setting the first sort field up again and your records should display again. This can happen if you delete the field that’s associated with the sort field. I need to fix that so it picks the next field in line if you delete the field that is being sorted on.

    Thanks,

    Brendan

Excellent. That did the trick. I’m back in business… Thank you very much.. Still learning some of the capabilities of this packed little program. Again, Thanks..

I have the full version of Tap Forms and it has stopped at 15 forms. Isn’t it supposed to be unlimited?

  8. admin says:

    Hello Mark,

Yes, if you upgraded from the Lite to the full, it should let you add more records.

Try quitting completely out of Tap Forms and launching it again. By quitting completely, I mean, bring up the multi-tasking dock bar at the bottom by double-clicking on the Home button, then tap-and-hold the Tap Forms LT icon. Then tap the red minus sign button. Then re-launch it. See if that works.

    Thanks,

    Brendan

I have added another form now by changing the category to ‘Personal’
I originally tried to set a new misc form ( called Misc Websites) This created it ( It was in the selection list as an optional form) but when I actually added a record for it, it did not show it in the list of used forms

  10. admin says:

    Hi Mark,

Check the first sort field for the form you’re adding. Make sure it’s set. And if it is, set it again.

    Thanks,

    Brendan

    Hello Goldy4u,

Which version do you have? Please contact me via email and we can discuss the issue.

    Thanks,

I have set up default values, mainly text, for several fields but when I email the record the defaults are all missing in the email.

  15. admin says:

    Hello Larry,

I’ll look into this issue. I did see a bug where if you tap the + on the Forms tab and select a form, the defaults are not setup. But if you tap the “New Record” button on the edit record screen or the + button on the records list screen for your form, that the defaults are set there.

    Thanks,

    Brendan

    Hello Gary,

Are you using iPhone OS 3.x? There is a bug when selecting Field Options that will cause it to crash. This doesn’t happen on iOS 3.2 or iOS 4.x.

    Thanks,

    Brendan

  19. Chris W says:

I’ve upgraded to the full version from inside the app on my iPhone – I noticed there was a semi-displayed comment about the app icon (and I’m assuming that it was instructions on how to change the LTE icon to a ‘full’ icon?). I’m unable to display a non-LTE icon for the app….any suggestions…?

  20. admin says:

    Hello Chris,

The note in the In-App purchase was that the name would still say “Tap Forms LT” after purchasing the full version from within the app. There’s no way I can change this unfortunately. But rest assured, you’re running the full version as long as the “Full Version Upgrade” option is no longer available on the Tools tab.

    Thanks,

    Brendan

  21. Chris W says:

Cheers for the quick reply – no worries then, as it’s a full version now, all’s good! Keep up the good work!

  22. admin says:

    Hello Stig,

FTP has been in Tap Forms for a very long time. You can use the Web/FTP Settings area in the Tools area to switch between using the FTP server or the Web server.

    Thanks!

    Brendan

Purchased upgrade to LT, but the number of records limit is still there…

  24. Owen says:

I just found this feature and it is great. I’m using TF now to track my sales and loving the simplicity of it. Sorry to ask, but any chance this feature could be expanded to show up to 3 fields and aggregates? Knowing the total is great, but I need to know the count and the average most of the time too and now I’m going back and forth setting these formulas. Is there anothter way to do it that would involve summing the data in another form or something I’m missing? Thanks. Owen

  25. Brendan says:

    Hi Owen,

The next update to Tap Forms Mac you will be able to configure each Number, Checkmark, Rating, and Calculation field to have its own aggregate calculation setting. They will display at the bottom of the records list view when in multi-column list view mode. I’m working on adding it to the single-column list view and then on to the iOS version.

    Thanks!

    Brendan
