I have a TapForms that tracks 5K, 10K and Half Marathon races and times. I noticed that my times have now added 1 hr due to daylight savings time. This is how long it took to run the race not an actual time. What field type or format do I need to use so that it does not make this adjustment.
Here is the response from the Tap Forms 5 Assistant:
To record race times (durations) like 5K, 10K, or Half Marathon runs in Tap Forms without them being affected by daylight saving time (DST) adjustments, you should avoid using the Time or Date & Time field types. These field types are designed for actual times of day and are susceptible to time zone and DST shifts.
✅ Recommended Solution:
Use the Number field type with a Time format specifically set for durations.
Here’s how to do it:
1. In your form, add a Number field.
2. In the field’s properties, set the Number Format to one of the Time styles (such as “hh:mm:ss” or similar duration formats).
3. Tap Forms will then store the value as a number of seconds and format it for display, preventing any time zone or daylight saving adjustments.
This method treats the value purely as a duration, which is what you want for race times.
