I can’t get Tap Forms to open a previously working document on my new iPhone 16 Pro. When I select the document, the Face ID appears to decrypt the document but the document will not open. I tried deleting the document and Air Dropping the document from my Mac to my iPhone. When I select the document in the Files Downloads folder, then select Share, and then select the Tap Forms app, the document is transferred to Tap Forms but will not open. Please Help!
I found a fix. It was a document encryption issue. The fix was to go to System/Apps/Tap Forms and disable Face ID. That brought up the Enter Password dialogue. Entering the password decrypted the document. After that I re-enabled Face ID and the document decrypted normally using Face ID. I still don’t know how re-enabling Face ID allowed Tap Forms to remember the document password.
Hi Fred,
I’m glad you found a solution.
Another solution is to not let FaceID detect your face. Tap on the FaceID logo when it appears, then the password dialogue will appear so you can enter in your password.
Your password is stored within the secure keychain on your device. So when you enable FaceID, Tap Forms will just recognize your face in order to be allowed to get access to the password in the Keychain. Then that password is used to decrypt the data.
Thanks,
Brendan
