I have been using Tap Forms for years and generally speaking I could not be more impressed with it. It is an amazing and versatile tool with unbelievable support.
I’m creating two very simple databases (a 3-field password database and a 5-field “organizer” database) for an elderly friend and I want to simplify the interface as much as possible so that the user doesn’t accidentally wind up in an unfamiliar screen which will fluster the user. This will be used on an iPad and iPhone using iCloud to sync.
I’ve already configured it so that the user cannot accidentally delete the databases, but is there any way to “turn off” the “+Add Form” in iOS/iPadOS or, better still, to force the interface to only show the “My Forms” and “Search” options, and perhaps requiring a password to go into “Tools”?
Thanks for your help and advice!
I’m sorry but there’s no way to turn off those features to make Tap Forms simpler.
But it’s probably a good idea to build some features like that at some point.
Thanks Brendan. I work with a lot of seniors and I could see that kind of feature being very useful.
Having the access for hiding/unhiding those options in a password-controlled “Tools” menu would be perfect in my opinion because an accidental tap of “tools” would result in a password prompt and it would be comparatively easy to teach “if you are prompted for a password within Tap Forms just tap [Cancel]”.
As it stands I have to create a document that describes a bunch of possible outcomes (like accidental taps of +Add Form and the “triangle” beside the +Add Form button, the tools menu and the Edit button…
Obviously the more options that there are the more opportunity for confusion, especially for someone who is nervous about technology and may have a failing memory to begin with, as is not uncommon among seniors.
