I’m puzzled about a sort I’m doing using the upper right corner Sort field (showing “82”.

I have a long list, and want a quick view of all the records that begin with a certain Tray number. The number represents the number of the tray the insects are pinned in, so many records may be in one numbered tray which is only 9 x 11 cm.

During the process of entering data, after I’ve created a record with a certain #, then I usually “Duplicate” that record for the next one because most of the data is already entered. When one tray is full I often “Duplicate” the last record to create a record that has the wrong “tray #” which has to be changed, keeping much of the last record’s data saving time from starting with a new record from scratch.

I notice when I do a quick search for all the records starting with a certain number, I get those expected records, plus those records that were duplicated and the Tray # changed. It is like some records keep the information of the Tray # even though that is not what is entered into that field.

Attached is a simple search (2 views showing the different right hand column) for the # 82. Notice on the left the Tray # (first col) has a list of all #s 82-85.

I’ve compacted the Database, that that did not fix the problem.
    Am I missing something?

If you quit and re-launch Tap Forms do you get the same issue with searching?

Ok, I’ve “Compacted” the database.  BTW, when I hit the “maintenance” button, TF main window and the small settings window both jump bo my laptop screen from the larger added screen.  When I hit “done” the settings window disappears and the main window jumps back to my large screen.

I’ve restarted TF.  Still the search is exactly the same.

I’ve rebooted my laptop.  Still the search is exactly the same.

I think I’d probably need to examine the data in the database directly in order to properly diagnose this issue for you.

You can email me a backup or archive of your form to support@tapforms.com
