    Hello Brendan,

I was wondering if there is a way of being able to add a time stamp into a text field for comments on my form?  Thanks

    Hi Matt,

In the Mac version of Tap Forms 5 there’s a function under the Edit menu that you can select to insert the date, time, or date & time.

    Thanks,

    Brendan

    Hi Brendan,

yes I found that and in using that in my form but I was wondering if there’s a way to have a time stamp in the same field as the text field. I’m looking to be able to add comments with a time stamp for each commit entered in the text field.

    Thanks,

    Matt

If you have a Note field you can just use that function to insert the timestamp.

Do you mean you want it inserted into a Text field type instead of a Note field type? It’s only for Note fields.

You could also create a separate form that has a Date field and a Note field or Text field and then add your comments that way. You can set the Date field to auto-set the current date whenever you create a related record. Add a Link to Form field for that.

    Thanks,

    Hi Brendan,

Thank you that helps.  Is there a way to have that time stamp in the notes auto generated with each new comment in that filed for each record instead of manually inserting it or no?

    Hi Matt,

No, there’s no way to do that. But just pressing the shortcut key will insert it for you where the cursor is. Just press control-d or control-t or control-shift-d to insert it.

    Thanks,

    Brendan
