Now that I’m using Tap Forms, I’m finding problems that aren’t discussed anywhere.
I have a simple record with only 4 fields, all text.
When I open up a record I see all the fields with their text fine.
When I select a field to edit, the screen changes to the editing screen with 1/2 the screen showing the keyboard.
Above the keyboard is 1/2 the screen and at the top is one row of text which seems to be a random part of the text available.
How can I edit a complicated paragraph when I can only see 8 or so words at a time and scrolling to the place to edit is impossible.
What is wrong here? The editing window should show more than a few words. How about showing a screen full of text???
Text field types are designed for holding small amounts of text.
If you have fields that contain a lot of text and you want a larger editing screen area, then switch the field type to Note. You can ignore the error warning that will appear because Text and Note fields are compatible with each other. Just the editing style is different.
Ah, that jives with my earlier learning experience. I didn’t see anywhere though that mentioned how many characters define the two fields. Frankly, I missed the “Note” field when I was scanning the document. I wish it was near the “Text” definition or the two referred to each other. I would have caught it then.
Sorry to bother you with that question. All my time in the last 5 days has been transferring files and configuring them and today to actually start to work on them. What I read before will make more sense now that I have my feet wet.
