Louis BrunetParticipantHi Tap Form team,
I’ve got some troubles with Tap Forms: on the top right toolbar, there is a button to enable/disable layout mode, where we can modify the templates. When the button is switched off, I shouldn’t be able to move the fields of my templates. On version 3.5.11.723, disabling Layout still allows the user to modify the template, which is very annoying, as it’s easy to make a mess with it
Thanks in advance for fixing that.

BrendanKeymasterIt shouldn’t be doing that. Try turning off the Layout inspector panel, then quit Tap Forms, then re-launch it. Could be that the setting for that has gotten out of sync with the display.
Thanks,
Brendan

Louis BrunetParticipantI did it. When it is switched of, and after restart, I am still able to modify the layout. For example if I click on a label, I see the 8-squares around it, and I’m able to move it.
I guess it should be completely locked. Thanks

BrendanKeymasterThat’s right. Only when the Layout inspector panel is displayed on the right you should be able to move an object around. So are you saying that you can’t even edit the data inside the object? Because it’s a toggle switch. When you can move an object around and resize it, you can’t change its data inside.

Louis BrunetParticipantNo, this is not the case. I can either move the boxes, lines and labels, and also enter data inside, which is really strange.

BrendanKeymasterSo then no matter if the Layout button is on (with the layout inspector panel showing or not) or off, you can edit data and move the objects around on screen?
Or does it work opposite? If the layout inspector is off you can edit the layout, but if it’s on, you can edit the contents?
It seems very strange to me. I have not been able to reproduce that issue.
Have you tried rebooting your Mac? I’ve seen the occasional time where the operating system does not write to the preferences that Tap Forms generates. When you toggle the Layout inspector panel, Tap Forms writes that setting to the defaults (preferences) database. So try a reboot and see if that fixes the problem.
Thanks,
Brendan

Louis BrunetParticipantHi Brendan,
Yes, no matter if the Layout button is on, I’m able to move the objects.
It is very strange as you said, and I’ve done pretty much everything in order to solve it, I couldn’t…
What I just did, is that I removed Tap Forms + all prefs + All Data, reinstalled from scratch, restored my DB, and now it works fine.
Might be a random bug, the most difficult to find. If I can reproduce, I will let you know.

Louis BrunetParticipantWait, I’ve talked too quickly. I was using 3.5.10, and it was working, but after upgrading to 3.5.11 (latest), I still have the same issue.
To describe it quickly again:
Layout button is OFF: I am able to fill the data (OK), and I’m able to move the objects (NOK)
Layout button is ON: I am not able to fill the data (OK), and I’m able to move the objects (OK).Seems to be a Core bug.

RonParticipant3.5.11 (723)
OSX 10.9.5I was just able to reproduce the same behavior. It took a lot of clicking but with the ‘Layout’ button turned off after clicking around the layout I was able to get a note field to display the grab handles and I was able to expand the field. I tested again and found that if I click right on the border of the field I can consistently get the grab handles to appear.

BrendanKeymasterOk, yup. You’re all correct. I managed to reproduce the problem too. Actually, you can just drag select the objects and then move them around. Or even pressing command-a will select all the objects.
I’ll have to get this fixed.
Sorry for the trouble.

BrendanKeymasterOk, problem fixed. If you have the direct download version of Tap Forms Mac then you can get the update immediately by using the Check for Update function in the Tap Forms menu. If you have the Mac App Store version, well, it’ll be about a week before Apple reviews it.
Thanks,
Brendan

Thanks Brendan ;)
