Cannot turn on iCloud sync on iPad

    I have Tap Form for Mac and Tap Forms HD for iPad (newest versions), Yosemite and iOS 8.1.3. I have no problem syncing between my two Macs via iCloud, but I cannot turn on iCloud sync in Tap Forms on my iPad. I keep getting the message in Tools > iCloud sync, that I should ‘turn on my iCloud account in Settings included iCloud Drive’. I have done that several times, restarted, and even reinstalled to app. What can I do more? Thanks.

    Hi Christian,

    I would suggest signing off iCloud and then signing back on. Then try again.

    When you see that message, it’s telling me that Tap Forms is asking the operating system where the location of your Mobile Documents folder is. If it returns nil (empty) then Tap Forms displays that message. So it’s iCloud that’s not giving Tap Forms the information it needs.

    Thanks for your reply. I tried signing off and on again, but all that happened was that all my Contacts disappeared and have not showed up again (Safari bookmarks returned). Very strange. Tap Forms HD still can connect to iCloud. I have tried turning off iCloud Drive as well, and on again, and Tap Forms HD. No luck.

    I can’t see any Mobile Documents folder anywhere (iCloud Drive on Mac or iCloud.com etc), btw.

    Hi Christina,

    The Mobile Documents folder is within your Library folder which is inside your home folder here:

    ~/Library/Mobile Documents/Tap Forms HD

    That’s actually where Tap Forms stores its files when you have iCloud sync enabled.

    To get there you copy the above path to the clipboard, then press command-shift-f in the Finder and paste the above path into the Go to Folder field. Press the Go button and you’ll see the files that Tap Forms works with in iCloud.

    Do you have Contacts enabled in the iCloud system preferences?

    Have you tried rebooting all of your devices to see if that resolves this?

    I am not sure that I have this folder on my Mac (Mobile Documents redirects to iCloud Drive where there is no Tap Forms folder), but no worries :-)

    I restored and reinstalled the iPad from the backup now, and this seems to have done the trick with both the Tap Forms iCloud sync and the Contacts addresses.

    Hi Christian,

    Excellent. I’m glad you got it to work.

    Although you should still have that folder. The Finder does a good job of trying to hide it on you though. True, the Mobile Documents folder does redirect to the iCloud Drive folder if you navigate into it normally, but going past it into the Tap Forms HD folder should let you in.

    Nevertheless, you don’t have to go there unless you want to find all the files that you have stored in iCloud.
