Hi have just downloaded Tap forms and I think it’s amazing, as a veteran but only mid level MS Access user that recently took the plunge into Mac this is like a breath of fresh air.
So, I am a farmer in Africa, I employ over 100 people but there is no specific software out there for us, things are tailored for first world and come with an equivalent price tag, I want my own……manage my labour effectively, calculate wages, SS, PAYE. We work on a day rate system. But I want to record more than present or absent, I want to allocate them to a business area/cost centre. Simultaneously an absent person should have a reason for being so. Has anyone out there done anything with Tap Forms?

I think that’s a specific use case for any database app. You will most likely need to create forms that capture the data specific to your needs.
But if anyone else has uniforms for this industry, it would be great if you contacted Adam.

Many thanks, do you anyone……or is there anyone out there that could help? also where can i learn the syntax for calculated fields……ie. i am trying to calculate todays date + 180 days, but the field formats don’t allow for a date format?

That’s a topic for the “Using Tap Forms” forum, but I’ll answer it here. Any further questions please post over there. This forum is for people to upload their already made templates that they wish to share with the greater Tap Forms community.
In the current version of Tap Forms when you use a date in a formula, you can only get out of it a duration result. For example, you could calculate someone’s age by using the formula:
($now – Birth Date) / 60 / 60 / 24 / 365.25
That would give you something like 18.5 if they were 18 1/2 years old.
The next update will allow you to return the result of a calculation as an absolute date, so in your example you would write a formula such as:
$now + 180 * 24 * 60 * 60
So the 180 days needs to be converted to seconds before it’s useful. But you’ll have to wait for Tap Forms version 3.9 for this functionality. I’ve sent it to Apple today for review, so it won’t be long now.

Hi Adam,
Version 3.9 is already out. Version 3.9.1 which fixes some bugs will be out next week. I’m planning on submitting it to Apple this weekend or Monday at the latest.
