Tap Forms 2.0.2 coming to an App Store near you

Hey There,

Just got notice tonight that so far Tap Forms HD 2.0.2 has been released for sale to the App Store. You should see the update in iTunes by now. Since I always submit all three versions at the same time, I suspect the iPhone and Lite versions will both be approved within the next few days.

Here's What's New:

★ Many to Many Link to Form field type option. This will let you link your record to a set of a previously created records in another form.
★ Drawing field type. Great for capturing signatures or sketching ideas.
★ Alert notifications. Using the Date & Time field, you can now schedule an alert to fire once, hourly, daily, weekly, etc. When an alert fires, Tap Forms will display the record that contained the Date & Time field that scheduled the alert.
★ Fixed delete record bug
★ Fixed search on record list view in Japanese, Korean, & Chinese languages.
★ New buttons for accessing pick lists, web sites, email addresses, contacts, and file attachments.
★ The Favourites tab lets you switch between Favourites and Alerts.
★ Support for "Open With..." Mail attachments for importing CSV files, Tap Forms backup archives, and other file attachments.
★ Pick Lists now get transmitted when beaming a form from one device to another.
★ The Switch Language function will now switch Tap Forms' user interface elements too. This means Tap Forms can operate in a language other than the system's selected language.

Enjoy all the new goodies!

I've already started on the next update. My main goal for 2.0.3 is to add a new Calculation field type.

Thanks!

Brendan

This app is full of bugs. During import of CSV-files it skips 30% of correct Lines.
Calculaion of maximum om number fields gives wildly incorrect answers.

    Hello Kristen,

Actually that’s a symptom of using the wrong file encoding. If you generated your CSV file on Windows, try using Windows Latin 1 encoding in Tap Forms and see if that works better for you. You can access that setting on the Import & Export Settings screen in the Tools area, or when you’re importing you get direct access to that area.

So it’s not full of bugs, it’s just an encoding mismatch between the file you’re importing and the encoding that Tap Forms is expecting. The Automatic setting doesn’t always figure it out. So change it and it should work better for you.

    Thanks,

    Brendan

Thanks for your reponse, Brendan. Sorry if my frustration took over too much. When I changed to import with Mac-os coding all records came through allright. Still there is a problem with the maximum calculation. I have two numeric fields with values between 1 and 1042, and for the one field Tapforms comes up with a maximum of 99 and for other 999. Any ideas for a reason/solution?

    Hello Kristen,

If you could send me a copy of the file to support@tapforms.com then I can take a look at it to try to figure out why Tap Forms may be finding the wrong minimum or maximum.

Did you by any chance import the number field using in the header row next to the name of your number field?

    E.g:

My Number 1.My Number 2, Some text

If you format your header like that, then Tap Forms will know what the field type is before it creates your form during import.

However, if you’ve already pre-defined your form, you only need to import your data right into the form. So, view the list of records in a form, then select “Import Records”. Then Tap Forms will know the data types of the fields when you import them. In this way you don’t need to specify any special tags in your CSV file’s header row.

By default, Tap Forms will import all data into Text field types. The calculation aggregate functions (min, max, total, average) will only work on numeric data, not textual data.

    Thanks!

    Brendan

Can you add a calulation that lets you calculate from sub forms.
i.e. Main Shows the total number (as a static field pulled from the sub form calculation) of widgets required and the Per Widget Cost. This Main form also totals the cost of the widgets. The sub form shows the total number of widges needed for each assembly. This sub form then calculates the total number of widgets.
