Emergency Update 1.9.11 in the pipeline

Hey there,

I am very sorry, but the 1.9.10 update has clearly caused a lot of crashing to happen in the app. I believe I have fixed all the crashes now in development. It's operating smoothly again and I am just about ready to release my 1.9.11 update to Apple. I just need a little more testing to make sure.

I'll see if I can get Apple to expedite the approval process for me this time since I know there a ton of you out there that rely on Tap Forms every day.

Sincerely and very sorry,

Brendan

Emergency Update 1.9.11 now causes all data not be able to open. Cannot open any forms

This is caused by the encrypted fields. I have fixed that and I am putting together another update for Apple.

    Sorry again.

    Brendan

  3. admin says:

If you turn off encryption on the fields, you’ll be able to see your data again. Non-encrypted fields in forms won’t have this problem.

After installing 1.9.11, there is still a problem with ratings. I have a sleep log form with 8 ratings (Quality,ThroatDryness,Breathing,Headache,Digestion,Pain,Nightmares,Environment). Any change I make to Quality also sets Nightmares. Any change I make to ThroatDryness also sets Environment. This bug has been present since 1.9.10.

How can I force the language used for TapForms user interface? The latest version automatically uses the system language, Greek in my case, but with all respect to people who did the localization they did really awful job. Sorry guys but you messed one of the best iPhone apps currently available.

So is there any way to force TapForms screen language?

    Thanks

    Hello Athan,

Hmmm… Well, unfortunately since I don’t speak Greek, I was unaware that the translations were bad. Do you have specific examples of the problematic translations? Also, it’s not currently possible to change the language other than via the system settings.

I’m very sorry about the poor translations. If you have any specific examples, I can pass them on to the translator, or if you like, I can send you the translation file and you can poke around in it to see the problems. It shows English on the left and Greek on the right.

    Thanks,

    Brendan

    Hi Brendan,

I’ll try to write down just a few examples for you. However the problem is more complex than it sounds. It’s not that the translation is that bad; the actual problem is that the translator did word-by-word translation not following any standard technical terminology, not even for common terms used in Greek iPhone OS, OSX and other db software.

In any case, please allow me a suggestion; consider implementing an option to force language in future releases. You cannot bet on localizations made by volunteers. ;)

    Thanks

    Hello Athan,

I’ll see if that’s possible to switch. I’m not even telling the system to use the Greek language to display the user interface. It happens automatically just by the fact that I have the Greek resources inside the application bundle.

    Thanks,

    Brendan
